On March 29, 2012 there was a general strike held in Spain primarily over changes in the labor laws. Although the majority of the activities of the strike were non-violent, some areas of Barcelona experienced violent clashes between police and protestors which turned into riots. It was hard to tell which which created more chaos, excessive force used by the police or destruction of property done by a few in the crowd, but the end results were multiple injuries, burning garbage containers, smashed and burned out shops and quite a few arrest .
